WHAT IS SIELE?
SIELE is the “Servicio Internacional de evaluación de la lengua española” (International Spanish Language Evaluation Service), which certifies the degree of proficiency in Spanish of non-Spanish speakers, and is aimed at students and professionals worldwide.
- It is offered by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Buenos Aires, thus guaranteeing quality in the elaboration of the tests using different linguistic varieties of the Spanish language commonly utilised in the Spanish-speaking world.
- SIELE certifies the level of competence in Spanish with 4 tests: Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Writing and Speaking; it is aligned with the levels of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
SIELE offers different modules:
- SIELE Global – 4 skills
- SIELE 1 – 2 skills (listening and reading comprehension)
- SIELE 2 – 2 skills (reading and writing)
- SIELE 3 – 2 skills (listening and speaking)
- SIELE 4 – 1 skill (speaking)
- SIELE 5 – 2 skills (speaking and writing)

SIELE is a modular, comprehensive and reliable tool. The components can assess all 4 skills – reading and listening comprehension as well as speaking and writing. It can assess one or two skills separately – and are fully computer based. Results are available quickly.
SIELE is accepted by Spanish universities.
