Exam preparation for the TOEFL

Language Assessment and Certification

TOEFL is the international assessment tool most commonly used to measure the ability to communicate in English for academic purposes and visa applications.  This test assesses the ability to understand and communicate in English in general contexts. Tests sessions may be organized at an approved computer test centre. Test sessions are also organized in paper format. The assessed skills are listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking and writing.

TOEFL results are expressed in terms of a numerical score which can be comprised between 1-120 points and are accompanied by comprehensive language skills descriptors.

Preparation courses

ILE International offers TOEFL preparation courses which may vary in length and time depending on the student’s language ability level.  ILE International gives the participant an initial placement test to determine the necessary hours of study to achieve a target score. During the training sessions several practice tests are given to participants to subject them to similar test-taking conditions as on the official test day. The training sessions focus on the analysis of specific information contained in the test, e.g.  type of questions, vocabulary, grammatical structure and the strategies to resolve them efficiently. Listening comprehension is reinforced through exercises similar to those presented in the real test. The training sessions can be organized face-to-face or via the distance-learning platform.
